ANOTHER USELESS MEASURE FROM THE UN

The clown cart by the East River voted for Israel to ceasefire and for Hamas to release the hostages it kidnapped. No mention of the fact that the UN’s own court, the International Court of Justice, ordered Hamas to immediately and unconditionally release all hostages, and twice denied requests to order Israel to enter into a ceasefire.

The UN Security Council voted 14–0, with the US abstaining, for a resolution requiring an Israeli ceasefire and for Hamas to release the hostages they kidnapped during their October 7 pogrom.

Hamas has been ordered to release all hostages, and that was by the UN’s own court, the International Court of Justice. The Court twice denied requests for an Israeli ceasefire. Of course, no mention of that in this useless measure. (It’s also like Trumpist judge-shopping: if the courts rule against you, you can always count on the UN to do the wrong thing.) The UN is like Donald Trump: only accepts decision that go its way. Hamas is not going to immediately and unconditionally release all hostages, and Israel is not entering a ceasefire.

I don’t mind that the US abstained. I think we know America agrees with the goal of a release of hostages, but only if accompanied by a total Hamas ceasefire, that means no more rockets fired into Israel. The difference between the US and the clowns at the UN is that America accepts that none of that would prevent Israel from remaining in Gaza long enough to wipe out the remaining Hamas stronghold in Rafah.
