As Abba Eban said, "The Palestinians never miss an opportunity to miss an opportunity."

They are paying the price for their leaders: rejecting the UN partition plan of 1948 and starting four wars in attempts to wipe out Israel; turning down the 1999-2000 offers that would have given Arafat 98.5% of the territory he asked for; turning Gaza into an Iranian surrogate after Israel left in 2005; launching a genocidal pogrom on Oct 7, which has decimated the infrastructure and economy of Gaza and taken a state off the table for at least a generation. It is those decisions by their leaders for the Palestinians are paying a price.
