Hey, no doubt about the wrongness of illegal West Bank settlements...Netanyahu's obsession with them, for political survival, caused him to ignore warnings, wrongly deploy troops, and allowed more slaughter to occur.
But the actions of Hamas on Oct 7 were not a response to illegal settlements on the West Bank, because Hamas doesn't want any Israel or any Jews in the region. Bad conduct and human rights violations by individuals IDF soldiers should be investigated and punished, and in the past and in the present it was done.
So long as Hamas remains in Gaza, so long as they fire rockets and attack IDF, Israel is not leaving. Hamas could end this any time they want, by releasing all hostages, stop using human shields, ending rocket fire, and leaving Gaza in exchange for a promise of not being killed so long as they stay away. I don't hear any of their supporters asking for this. There is zero chance of a ceasefire that requires IDF to leave, but Hamas can stay. That's all I have to say, thanks for writing and responding.
