How Did Netanyahu Do It, and What Does It Mean For The Future?
Defying all odds, a corrupt and ineffective leader, facing multiple indictments, has done nothing but score huge victories and wipe out Israel’s enemies. Get use to him; he’s not going anywhere.
If you’ve read my posts, you know I am a staunch Zionist, but also a person who blames Bibi Netanyahu for allowing October 7 to occur by ignoring warnings from military and security experts and focusing on protecting renegade settlers deep in the West Bank. For many years, I reviled him as the single most obstacle to a two state solution, which seemed to be the only way to lasting peace. On top of that, the Israeli police and prosecutors have charged him with taking bribes and other illegal gifts. In other words, as a Jew, a Zionist, and of course, as an American whose nation is joined at the hip to the Jewish State, I long wanted him out, replaced by someone who could forge a real path to peace.
Then October 7 happened. The horrific genocidal pogrom did not alter my views on Bibi, and in fact, engendered more anger as I saw him being responsible for the tragedy and also ill-equipped to fight Israel’s enemies while simultaneously fighting to keep himself out of prison.
