I agree with everything you say about Netanyahu. Israel needs new leadership for many reasons; his negligence in allowing the pogrom to ever occur, let along last so long, and his ineptitude in setting any goal except delay for personal benefit.
Having said all that, and with the need for new wartime leadership imperative, I doubt any new leader would have success with negotiations. Hamas has one bargaining chip, one wall between it and utter destruction cratering by bunker busting bombs: the hostages. Yet they just massacred six of them rather than risk them being freed. There is no serious possibility of negotiating with such a group.
Now the leadership of Hamas has been criminally charged and are wanted in /america. The US does not negotiate with fugitives; if Sinwar & Co. want to negotiate their fate with the Us, he has to surrender. Can we really expect Israel to negotiate with him if we won't?
