If this is his idea of an Israeli defeat, and by implication, a Hamas win, something is askew. Gaza lies in rubble, with no aid plan. The President of the US says he wants Gazans moved out, and there are elements of Netanyahu's coalition who agree wholeheartedly. Hezbollah is crushed , Iran and Russia are gone, Israel the regional power. An independent state is so far away no one can see it today. The remaining Hamas fighters are dead men walking. The new recruits will have no weapons, no outside support, not even from the Arab world. Gaza is on life support, the worst it has ever been, and its best hope is to get rid of Hamas and start the long, hard process of rebuilding under the most difficult and minimally assisted conditions, trying to develop a society that will eventually permit an independent state that includes Gaza. That's the realistic assessment. Anything else is pie in the sky delusion.
