Iran has directly attacked Israel, both by its direct rocket attacks and by the use of surrogates like Hamas and Hezbollah, aided by money, supplies, and training. What Iran has not yet done is attack to such degree that Israel's response destroys that nation. Even the mad mullahs understand that should such happen, not many people in the world will be wringing their hands over it.
