ISRAEL’S SUPREME COURT DEALS BLOW TO NETANYAHU’S FAKE JUDICIAL REFORMS

The Israeli Supreme Court, the highest tribunal in the only fair and legitimate legal system in the Middle East, has dealt a death blow to Bibi Netanyahu’s plans to neuter the judiciary that has protected Israeli citizens from him.

The Court struck down the law passed by the far-right governing coalition, which would have removed the Supreme Court’s authority to strike down laws passed by the Knesset (Israel’s Parliament) if it finds them “unreasonable.” In the absence of a written Constitution with hundreds of years of interpretation as we have here in America, the Court has developed a body of law to guide it in such determinations. They have used this to strike down some illegal settlements, demolitions of Palestinian homes, and ruled in favor of Arab citizens in discrimination actions.

The Israeli Supreme Court is world famous and respected for its impartiality and commitment to justice. They famously overturned the convictions of “Ivan the Terrible,” a WWII concentration camp guard, because they felt the evidence did not rise to the level required for conviction.
