It is not possible to say how South Africa might be today were there not decades of apartheid, but ethnic hatred, corruption and political divisions have been the prime cause lately. The point to note is that right now, if the Palestinians were to miraculously get their own state, it would at best be like South Africa. Apartheid was evil of course, bit that does not mean the people who came after were necessarily better leaders. A state like SA cannot be allowed to exist in the Middle East. First develop a modern society in Gaza, then a state is appropriate.
