I've been self=publishing for almost seven years, a five novel thriller series, and one historical fiction novel. From what i can see, self=publishing, especially amazon, is really good for indie authors writing a series, as one pleased reader likely means the rest of the series gets read. I find it a lot harder to promote a non-series novel in that marker, but I'm sure that's because I haven't figured it out. One more point: if you are amazon-exclusive, and put your books on KU, you are getting readers and you will be paid. (KU pays less than a sale, but it is a different market; think of it as Netflix for books.)
