‘RACISM IS RAMPANT IN IRELAND, ACROSS ALL SECTORS AND LEVELS.”

Dr. Ebon Joseph, founder of Ireland’s Institute of Antiracism and Black Studies, says “racism is rife in Ireland.”

Last December. I wrote a piece about the Irish government’s hypocrisy in their blind, one-sided support for any enemy of Israel, and the national blindspot when it comes to their sorry history of Nazi sympathies. The latter was most famously exhibited in April of 1945, when then President Eamon de Valera-no friend of Irish Jews-strolled over to the German consulate to sign a condolence book. He was really sad that Hitler was dead. (Ireland was neutral during WWII, and maintained full diplomatic and commercial ties with Nazi Germany.)

The Irish government and political system-distinct from the Irish people -have learned nothing since then. Despite the near-absence of any Jews in the nation, and the zero impact Israel has on Ireland, their government is continually obsessed with Israel and Jews, and not in a good way.

Ireland’s government may complain about how Israel treats Palestinians, but look how they treat refugees: make them live in tents on the streets, where racist mobs assault them at will. Who are they to give advice to anyone else on how to treat people? (Image courtesy Irish times, 05/25/2024.)
