Their most successful & beloved president has given way to a crazed tin-horn demagogue who prefers violence to democracy. Today’s GOP bears little resemblance to the party of Ronald Reagan.

The Thanksgiving Day edition of the Tampa Bay Times contained an opinion piece about the evaporation of Reaganism from the Republican Party. A lot of us who didn’t support Ronald Reagan when he was in office have come to appreciate how much better he was than the violent lunatics currently in control of his old party. If anyone spots a Ronald Regan Republican, please let me know. When I was a young, liberal Democratic lawyer practicing in San Francisco in the 1980’s, I enjoyed many spirited and intellectual discussion-debates with my colleagues on the other side of the political aisle.
