THREE STEPS FORWARD, THEN ONE STEP BACKWARD FOR MAGA MIKE

Speaker Johnson deserves bipartisan cheers for some of his recent moves, but he needs to be called on the carpet for promoting the antisemitic George Soros trope, a classic example of Jew Hatred.

With absolutely no proof, Johnson accuses George Soros of being behind the pro-Hamas, Jew-hating criminality taking place on perhaps 80 of America’s 7,000 institutes of higher learning. There have been outside agitators arrested, many in fact, but none have anything to do with George Soros.

George Soros is actually vehemently anti-Zionist, though exclusively peaceful and intellectual, not fomenting violence. That he was born Jewish is of no importance to him, and while we Jews recognize him as a Member of the Tribe, he is viewed with distaste, suspicion and often anger by the overwhelming majority of us. He has virtually nothing to do with Jewish communities anywhere, does not emphasize his Jewish roots, and was born as a native Esperanto speaker, an interesting manufactured language with no connection to Jews. (Actually, aside from his views on Israel, most of us likely agree with him on the other issues of the day. from a liberal to progressive point of view.)

Soros also happens to one of the richest people in the world, and he’s not shy about using some of his wealth for causes he believes in.
