What is missing in this piece is an acknowledgment of of a historic and continuous Jewish presence and the significance of Israel to the Jewish People. The piece jumps around from 1619 to the Exodus movie, from south Africa to Europe, but never talks about why Israel is the Jewish homeland. There can't be a serious discussion without this included. People who only want to talk about claims favorable to their own side are never going to move anyone. Both Jews and Palestinians have demonstrated historical ties to the land and have a physical presence now, and the only solution is two states. Those who try to deny the legitimacy of either People to their own state are not acting on behalf of peace.
